Not every employer or small business owner can afford high-dollar holiday appreciation gifts for their valued, dedicated, and hardworking staff, but that doesn’t mean they have to settle for just a card and a pat on the back—not that that doesn’t count. Even a small gesture can mean something big to your employees, which in turn can lead to higher job satisfaction and loyalty.
If the budget is tight this year, here’s a great way to show your appreciation to your entire team: a holiday refreshment station. Bring in some cookies or other baked goods, hard candies, and of course, coffee or hot chocolate. And highlight it with this easy, inexpensive, DIY Chalkboard sign that adds a vintage vibe to the scene. So even if you can’t financially spring for a group outing, maybe they’ll feel like they’re in a real coffee shop!
There are a couple of ways to do this. First, if you don’t want the sign to be permanent, use chalkboard contact paper. It’s removable and repositionable so you can easily take it down after the holidays. Click here to see a contact paper option you can buy from Amazon.
If you like the idea of this refreshment station as a year round perk for your employees, you may want to go for the permanent option using some chalkboard paint and a few more materials. You can find a project tutorial here.
This project uses Inteplast Accent Planks from Lowe’s for the frame. They’re made from PVC but have the look of reclaimed weathered wood—without the splinters of course! This project uses Accent Planks in Reclaimed White – but other color options available. Each plank kit covers 15-sq ft., which means you’ll have plenty of planks left over for another project. Visit Design Next Door to see all of the creative uses for Inteplast Accent Planks.
Saying thank you to your employees doesn’t have to be expensive. This holiday refreshment station not only reinforces their value to you and your company, but it’s a great way to gather together and encourage comradery and good cheer.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the holidays!
