So far I’ve done a decent job of sticking to my no-clutter-keep-it-clean philosophy for the New Year, right down to my laundry room. In 2015, I likened my laundry room to that of a junk drawer – you know, that catch-all drawer, usually in the kitchen, that becomes home to miscellaneous objects, left-over parts, and bits of who knows what. Well, that’s what our laundry room was like; the place where everybody hides things they don’t know what to do with. I guess the assumption is, company doesn’t go in there, so who cares. Well, in 2016, no more junk room. In fact, I’m making the laundry room so neat and clean, it’s almost Zen-like.
For those of you who regularly read my blog, you know I like clean lines, bright whites or neutrals, and an overall minimalist aesthetic. That’s what drew me to this design idea I found when doing a search for laundry rooms. And of course, anything that involves decorative moulding and beadboard, I’m all over it. PVC beadboard is the perfect wall finish for a laundry room because it’s easy to wipe up liquids, detergents, and other cleaning products that can get splashed on the walls when you’re doing laundry, with just a soapy sponge. That’s the beauty of using PVC prefinished beadboard and trim – easy cleanup and no painting.
This really is a quick, easy, DIY project you can do in a weekend, and it’ll take your laundry room from junk to jewel in no time. In this project, they covered the lower half of the wall using Inteplast Group Building Products PVC beadboard planks cut into 4’ tall sections, finished with a trim board and cap. Everything you need for the project can be found at Home Depot. Watch the video tutorial to see how easy it is (and if you want written instructions you can check out the PDF version).
Once you make-over your laundry room wall with PVC beadboard and trim and see how quick, easy, and beautiful the results are you’ll be covering walls in every room of your house!
