Autumn is truly my most favorite season of the year. Where I focus my decorating and efforts on the exterior during the spring, the interior gets all of my attention in the fall. If it’s time to repaint my walls, I usually wait until the fall so I can select rich, warm colors to keep things cozy, considering most of our time will soon be spent indoors for the upcoming winter months. In addition to paint, one of the most creative, inexpensive, and easy to do updates you can do to infuse character in your house by adding decorative moulding throughout. Here are some inspiring room-by-room design ideas that’ll make you happy to hibernate in until spring.
One of my favorite fall rituals is piling into my bed, surrounded by my big soft down comforter, and reading for a couple of hours in the evenings after dinner. Like in this image, one of my favorite fall decorative combinations is a beautiful, warm autumnal wall color paired with cool, crisp white bedding that you might reserve only for spring and summer. The crystal white moulding and bead board contrasted against the espresso moulding, both from Inteplast Building Products, makes this a room you want to spend time in.
Once the weather cools, and while I’m comfortably lounging in my bedroom, reading in the evenings, my husband retreats to his man cave to watch sports or crime dramas, or read or tinker with his electronic gadgets. I find that a lot of people assume man caves are all sports-themed or covered with pin-up posters, but my hubby’s is pretty sophisticated; very similar to this inspirational image. Make no mistake, the russet and beige wall color tones scream man cave, but it’s very tastefully done, especially the autumn color moulding from Inteplast. I am especially in awe of how they incorporate the chair rail moulding with the picture and poster framing. That is first class!
So yes, we have both a media room and a man cave at our house. After the kids graduated from college and moved out for good a few years ago, we had a ton of extra space that needed a purpose. Our media room is well used during the fall and winter months. It’s where we hang out for movie night with friends, neighbors, and the kids when they come in for a visit. I am enamored by the streamlined moulding-turned-wall shelving in this photo. Using Inteplast Building Products, you can install strips of prefinished trim, evenly spaced to act as a tract system for hanging shelves to hold DVDs, pictures, or anything else you want to put on display. You can find a how-to video to build your own shelves here.
With Inteplast Building Products vast variety of prefinished moulding colors, textures, and profiles, there is no limit to the decorative possibilities.
Get cozy, and stay crafty this fall!
